A cultural initiative for encounter.

MigrArte is a space that brings together cinema, migration, memory and dialogue to create cultural encounters, open conversations and build connections between audiences, artists and communities.

MigrArte

A cultural platform with a vocation for dialogue.

MigrArte was created as a cultural initiative in order to open spaces for dialogue on migration and human rights through film, art and public conversation. Rooted in Latin American perspectives and experiences, the project brings together audiences, artists, institutions and communities around stories that are often left at the margins.

Our mission

MigrArte seeks to create spaces where cinema and cultural experience make it possible to think about migration from multiple perspectives: memory, belonging, displacement, identity, encounter and social transformation.

Through screenings, cultural programming and collaborative work, the project can function as a meeting point between diverse audiences, artists, organisations and institutions.

At its core, MigrArte understands art and culture as an avenue for encounter: a way of highlighting lived experiences, allowing collective reflections and strengthening connections between territories, memories and communities.

What we do

Programming, community and cultural memory.

Festival and programming

MigrArte organises film screenings, curated audiovisual programmes and cultural activities that explore migration, memory, identity and human rights. Our work takes shape especially through the Festival de Cine Colombia Migrante in Switzerland, while also opening space for future formats and collaborations.

Dialogue and community

MigrArte seeks to create encounters. We promote conversations between communities, artists, researchers, institutions and the general public, understanding culture as a bridge between experiences and realities that are too often disconnected from one another.

Memory and archive

We also value the importance of preserving the festival’s trajectory: its programmes, images, guest contributions and public conversations. The archive is part of MigrArte’s memory and a way of extending the life of each edition beyond the event itself.

Cultural collaboration

MigrArte develops its work through partnerships with festivals, NGOs, cultural organisations, academic spaces and independent collaborators. Collaboration is the way through which we grow and reach a broader audience.

Team and network

People, collaboration and structure.

The team

Organisation

MigrArte is coordinated by a small team that develops the project across its different dimensions: programming, partnerships, communication and production.

Collaborators

Network

Each of our activities is shaped together with a broader network of artists, researchers, cultural organisations and partners who contribute to the project in different ways.
